Ngā Manu

'Ngā Manu' is a series of the Purotu Collection that celebrates the allure that our most famous birds of Aotearoa bear.....

Tui - the ever so angelic song that is heard from the trees, trained by Māori to replicate complex speech and become a friend of our tūpuna.

Huia -  the best-known extinct bird of Aotearoa for its sheer beauty and special place in Māori culture and tradition, with a meaning of royalty and tapu amoungst our Māori people.

Tīrairaka - the one that flits around, restless and cheeky, he is always on the move. For many including me, he is a kaitiaki or guardian and very playful!
