Our mahi is inspired by our tūpuna, our whānau and most of all our Māoritanga. Our collections encourage our people to be motivated through art and the meanings of being Māori in the developed world. Stimulated by kōwhaiwhai, tā moko and our reo aswell as utilising contemporary style, shape and size to evoke our collections and their meanings.
About the creator
With whānau links to Ngāti Hine/NgāPuhi/Te Arawa (father) and Kai Tahu (mother), Kiriwai grew up in a solid Māori background in Rotorua from a young age speaking Te Reo. With a strong essence of whānau behind her, Kiriwai is a wife, a mother to 2 boys and a fur child. She has always had an eye as an artistic creator especially with her realism mahi, only now to utilise her contemporary Māori mahi through her jewellery collection and soon to be, kakahu collection.
These ideas are only on the tip of the iceberg with several more still to come!
